Kanreki is a term used in Japanese culture to celebrate a 60th birthday, and has connotations of rebirth and renewal - apt symbolism for a pen which is constantly being refined with new colors, trims, and special add-on features.

The ballpoint-like click mechanism on the Pilot Vanishing Point allows the nib to extend and retract, while a hidden trap-door mechanism guards against dry-out. A cartridge-converter pen, the Vanishing Point can be filled with any bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter, and can also use convenient Pilot-Namiki brand ink cartridges, now available in more than twenty carefully nuanced colors.
