In collaboration with Kuretake, Wancher proudly presents a collection of 18 Kindai Maki-e fountain pens that celebrate traditional Japanese symbols, folklore, and aesthetics. The Maki-e Monogatari series is a refined expression of Japanese artistry, handcrafted with sincerity and care.
Inspired by Ukiyo-e printmaking and the Rimpa school of 17th-century Japanese painting, each pen showcases scenes from nature — flowers, animals, landscapes — wrapped in vibrant elegance.
Crafted from a single sheet of aluminum, the pen\'s body is jointless, lightweight, and remarkably durable. The surface is finished with a clear urushi lacquer, adding both protection and brilliance to the design.
Shidare Zakura, also known as "sacred cherry blossoms," is a term used to refer to a specific type of cherry blossom tree in Japan. The Shidare Zakura tree is distinguished from other cherry blossom trees by its large, showy flowers, which are often depicted in Japanese art and literature as a symbol of good fortune and prosperity. In the art of Japanese fountain pens, Shidare Zakura may be depicted as decorative elements. They may be carved into the pen\'s body or depicted through the use of makie, a type of Japanese lacquerware that involves decorating a surface with gold or silver foil and colorful pigments. The incorporation of Shidare Zakura in Japanese fountain pens is a way to bring a touch of traditional Japanese culture and aesthetics to a practical everyday object.Specifications:
