Design: From An Era in Jinling painted scroll by Feng Ning (Late 18th–Early 19th c., China)
An Era in Jinling, created by Qing court artist Feng Ning and inscribed by three emperors, portrays the cityscape, daily life and customs of Song dynasty Nanjing. Often described as “an encyclopedia of Nanjing’s history and folk culture,” the scroll spans more than 10 metres.
It includes 533 figures, 90 animals and dozens of carriages, merchants and lively street scenes, capturing the vibrancy of a flourishing city. A masterpiece of traditional Chinese art, it reflects the enduring spirit of Chinese civilization.
This edition is part of our collaboration with the Deji Art Museum in Nanjing, celebrating artistic heritage that connects eras and cultures.
