The Chinkin Collection is made up of fountain pens which use “Chinkin (Gold Inlay)”, one of lacquer ware techniques that Japan boasts to the world on a par with Maki-e. Motifs are carved into the lacquered surface with special chisels, and after inlaying lacquer in the grooves, placing gold leaves and gold powder gives the pattern expression.

This incredible fountain pen features a stunning carp motif surrounded by elegant autumn leaves, painstakingly etched, and filled in with gold powder. The leaves were designed based on Momiji, or Japanese maple trees. These leaves are comparable to exquisiteness of brocade silk - to be an incarnation of dragons and are symbols of luck and good fortune.
The renowned artisan, Yasuji Sumi, used the unique Chinkin technique to create this design. Each pen is truly a masterpiece.
