Dante Alighieri was born in 1265 in Florence and is widely regarded as the greatest Italian poet of all time—often called the father of the Italian language as we know it. His most important work, “Comedia” (later known as the Divina Commedia / Divine Comedy), is a masterpiece of world literature that explores the afterlife through three realms: Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Each realm is rendered with vivid symbolism and moral intensity, reflecting Dante’s spiritual vision of life.

Inspired by this epic journey, Visconti created the Visconti Comedia collection—three distinct interpretations designed to capture the essence of each realm through bespoke resins and dedicated metal trims. Inferno embodies Hell itself: a solid black body pierced by flaming-red accents and finished with dark ruthenium details, evoking fire, shadow, and the dramatic force of Dante’s first cantica.

All three Comedia versions share the collection’s signature architecture: a unique central ring conceived specifically for this project, featuring two bands with a hammered texture—a motif echoed again on the pen’s distinctive metal section. Each central ring is individually engraved by Visconti craftsmen with the inscription “Comedia” followed by the model name, giving every pen an artisanal, almost “prototype-like” identity—precise, engineered, and unmistakably Florentine in spirit.
