Inspired by the Japanese meaning of “Hane,” a reference to luminosity and graceful brilliance, Hane Toruko explores the captivating spectrum of turquoise through the ancient Tamenuri lacquering technique. The result is a fountain pen whose color continuously evolves beneath changing light: at times airy and crystalline, reminiscent of sunlight reflected on mountain streams; at others deep and mysterious, revealing darker turquoise tones hidden beneath the translucent Urushi layers.

Each fountain pen is handcrafted in Japan using the traditional Tamenuri process, where natural Urushi lacquer — harvested from the sap of the Urushi tree — is patiently applied layer after layer by master artisans. Every coat is carefully polymerized and hand-polished, creating extraordinary visual depth and a living surface that becomes increasingly transparent over time.
