The name TWSBI is derived from the initials of the words "San Wen Tong" written in reverse order. In Chinese, "San Wen Tong" means "Hall of Three Cultures." Emperor Qianlong established such a hall to house three of the greatest masterpieces of Chinese calligraphy. The word "Bi" in Chinese refers to the artistry and beauty of writing instruments. By combining these concepts, the unique name TWSBI was created. It is pronounced "Twiz-bee!"
