The Parthenon

The Parthenon is one of the most famous and iconic buildings of ancient Greece, located on the Acropolis of Athens. This majestic Doric temple, built between 447 and 438 BC, is dedicated to the goddess Athena Parthenos, patron saint of the city.

Over the centuries, the Parthenon has suffered various damages, including damage from warfare, looting, and air pollution. Today, many of the original sculptures are displayed in the Acropolis Museum in Athens for preservation, while the building itself has been extensively restored. The Parthenon represents an important testimony to the art and architecture of ancient Greece and is a symbol of its cultural legacy that continues to inspire and fascinate visitors from all over the world.
