The MAT4 Special Edition in Giallo Antimonio Castellana Ceramic represents the meeting of contemporary Italian design with the historic ceramic tradition of Castelli. The precise and geometric character of the MAT4 is combined with the warm, tactile quality and vibrant colours of traditional Italian ceramic art, creating a refined balance between innovation and heritage, geometry and creativity, mind and hand.

Created through a collaboration between Vittorio Martini 1866 and Antiche Ceramiche di Castelli, in the province of Teramo, this special set is entirely handcrafted and entirely made in Italy. Every piece is individually worked and decorated by hand using carefully selected materials and traditional artistic techniques, ensuring authenticity, exceptional character and, above all, uniqueness.

The Giallo Antimonio finish has a particularly fascinating connection with the history of ceramic decoration. Its characteristic yellow tone originates from ancient chemical experimentation, when the master ceramicists of Castelli discovered that certain mineral oxides containing antimony could produce a stable, luminous yellow colour after firing.

The colour is applied to the ceramic by hand with a brush, allowing the gesture of the artisan to become part of the finished object. Because the process is entirely manual, no two examples are exactly alike. Subtle variations in tone, shape and decoration give every MAT4 its own individual identity and provide a visible expression of its handcrafted origin.

The MAT4 is crafted from Castellana ceramic and presented in a glossy Giallo Antimonio finish. It is accompanied by a matching desk stand made from Castellana ceramic in the same finish, creating a harmonious set intended not only for writing, drawing and tracing, but also for display and collecting.

Slight differences in shape, colour or decoration are therefore natural and should not be considered imperfections. Instead, they are distinctive characteristics of artisanal production and confirm the individuality of each creation.

Each piece is supplied with a certificate of authenticity. The certificate does not cover accidental breakage, damage caused by impacts, falls or improper use, alterations caused by aggressive cleaning products or unsuitable heat sources, or normal wear resulting from use.
