Akebono-nuri (???) is a demanding Urushi technique that requires meticulous layering and polishing. Black Urushi is applied over a red lacquer undercoat, then carefully polished until the underlying red begins to emerge. Repeating this process enhances the lustre of the red lacquer and produces beautifully graduated transitions between the two tones.

The Dream Pen Aizu Urushi collection draws on the rich lacquerware heritage of Japan’s Aizu region. An ABS body provides the foundation for the hand-applied Urushi finish, bringing traditional craftsmanship to a writing instrument designed for personal expression.

This pen is available exclusively with a JoWo No. 6 stainless steel nib in a silver-tone ST or gold-tone GT finish. It accepts a converter or European international standard cartridges, while an internal airtight cap mechanism helps prevent the ink from drying out between writing sessions.
